Argumentation: My country ‘Tis of Thee
During the mid 20th century, being one of the most important African-American activists and co-founding the NAACP, and supporting Pan-Africanism, W.E.B DuBois had many philosophies. One of the many, happened to be the manifestation of being humble, especially when one is put in a fatal situation and lastly remaining true to oneself.
As humans, people go through many phases of emotion like frustration for situations that can be quite irritating and exhausting. For instance, other individuals think you did something bad when in reality you didn’t, yet no one believes you. Sometimes things don’t go the way things are supposed to go or be handled. There will be situations where certain people are allowed to get away with things, you don’t always win and most absolutely don’t get to be heard. But really the main themselves principal to follow is knowing and believing in one’s true self when no one else does. For example, teenagers can be very obdurate and difficult going through the age if adolescence but it’s not always their fault. There can be various situations where a teenager may encounter a dispute with their parents which can lead to far more worst consequences one may have to pay even when it’s not their fault because parents aren’t always a ray of sunshine, they’re stubborn and blame their kids other than themselves. Sometimes instead of fighting or denying a particular subject, one might want to be humble to prevent any more conflict, while respecting others. One may have to apologize for certain things to be able to be the ‘bigger person’.
On the contrary, others may not have the patience to be humble in certain situations because they’re prideful to their opinions and not being perceived as spurious, or in simpler terms for generation x, ‘fake’. But what certain individuals don’t understand is that being humble doesn’t exactly mean being ‘fake’ it’s mainly preventing conflict one may go through. As long as one is true to themselves, one must not worry about anything.
To a certain extent, there will be times where one may need to stand up for themselves although people may not want to listen what one has to say. That’s just life, not everyone can be as humble as others can. As long as one knows themselves that they’re at the right and have nothing to hide, they’ll be fine.
